Selected work from Varian Medical Systems – Palo Alto, CA

2006-2014 

 

I began working with Varian as a creative consultant in 2005 and chose to go full-time in 2006 as working with a company that was fighting cancer held great importance to me.  My role transformed over the years and became split between being a hands-on Art Director and a Sr. Digital Producer.

 

On the Creative side, I worked in all mediums for B2B marketing campaigns, brand development and management, online and mobile, as well as tradeshows and events.  Mediums would change on a daily basis between print, signage, video, animation, mobile and online, flash interactives, photography, etc.  As the company's main brand advocate, I also provided art direction to other internal designers and external vendors and agencies worldwide. 

 

As a Digital Producer, I worked on creating project workflows for the creative department; created and managed a global DAM system; delivered Varian's first in-house, fully branded corporate website in 2008 and rebranded in 2012; produced numerous 3D product animations for video and digital interactive projects; and produced photorealistic CGI for product imagery.

   MOBILE / APP       

Varian Unite app​

Role:  Art Direction, Branding, Mobile. 

 

 

An application available on iPhone and Android to promote Varian Medical Systems' tradeshows and events. The app also serves as a platform to promote products through image and video galleries, and news feeds. 

 

My role was to provide art direction for the look and feel of the app as well as providing the initial creative of which the vendor build upon.  Also developed promotional creative to use before, during and after the events.

   REBRAND INITIATIVE       

Varian Oncology Systems

Role:  Art Director / Sr. Digital Producer

 

A lead member of a small in-house team working with an outside agency in effort to rebrand the Varian Oncology business unit. 

 

After the new brand was established, my primary role turned to the management, development and on-going updates for the brand guidelines, as well as all marketing collateral template development and updates.  

 

Templates included: InDesign print layouts for marketing and advertising, PPT Presentations, UI/UX icon creation, and video and online guidelines

   BRAND AND ASSET MANAGEMENT       
VOS Brand Exchange

Role:  Art Director / Sr. Digital Producer

 

Built a robust global DAM site from the ground up by working with a wide range of in-house departments as well as creative and SaaS agencies worldwide.  The DAM site is permissions-based and includes Single Sign-On for access control and User manageability (over 3k users).

In addition to hosting over 1300 assets and marketing templates, the DAM site is designed to educate the user on the Essence of the brand and how best to implement the brand.

   3D PRODUCT ANIMATION & CGI CREATION       
CAD / 3DSM / OBJ / ETC.

Role:  Art Director / Sr. Digital Producer

 

Through my tenure at Varian, I was the lead in creating multiple 3D product animations for video and online/interactive, as well as creating photorealistic product imagery (CGI).

Projects entailed: collaborating with the Engineering department for source material (CAD files); discussing with product experts for specific treatment techniques and unique product functionality; creating SOWs and storyboards to translate what is needed with 3D artists and animators worldwide; deliver high-impact videos, animations and imagery for worldwide use.

Website / Brand refresh 2012

Working with the agency, re-skinned all Varian Medical System’s online properties to bring forth brand consistency in both look and feel as well as content structure.

   B2B ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN       

SURGERY WITHOUT A TRACE (2006)

​A unique integrated advertising campaign for the radiosurgery business unit of Varian Oncology Systems.

 

The campaign included brochure layout and design, advertising campaign, direct mail, tradeshow signage, website, and flash microsite.
